Memoirs

Memoirs, as someone put it, are slices of life. They're just a small but significant portion of the whole story. And that's what this is -- snippets of my story.

Procrastinators annonymous

I can hardly wait until next semester. Then I can be pretty and not feel stupid. I always feel like I should look like a female version of a geek in my science classes because the professors won't take me seriously if I don't. It's really awkward and difficult because geeks usually don't have long, curly blonde hair . . . I'll be very happy when I can be in psych classes and generals where it is ok and perfectly normal to be who you are.

I talked to a Psych advisor today and it looks like I'll graduate only a semester behind, and possibly even on time! How exciting is that??? Oh my goodness! :-)

Guess who should be studying Microbiology

Guess who's not. Me! Yay!

God always makes it turn out ok. I was going to be a nurse. I was not doing so well with my classes, but I sent my application in, knowing full well that I would most likely not get into a nursing program. I went to talk to my advisor on Friday, and out of the blue she said, "From reading your application essay, I think you would make an excellent Occupational Therapist. You should really look into that." She gave me some information about it. It turns out that you can get a degree in any field you want to (but you have to take a bunch of sciences on top of that) and then you can go into grad school for two years. I looked at the additional requirement list, and it turns out that I took and received a high enough grade in 17 out of 22 required classes and I was signed up for 2 of the other ones for next semester -- before she gave me this information. I was going to change my major to Psychology, and three of the classes for OT count toward that major. Also, a lot of the classes would fulfill the LAC requirements as well, so I would be in very good shape. God is so good like that! So, I think I'll do that, and I will apply to grad schools for both OT AND psychology-related stuff (counseling or psychotherapy or something) and take the one that God leads me to do. It's so exciting!

Taking care of old business

Monday: Eddie said it best, "You are always so happy and smiley, but right now I sense a darkness and hatred about you."

Wednesday: Yay! We win!

Thursday: I love it when professors leave rather ambiguous lab directions on the board and then leave the school for the day.

Friday: Why does everyone think that I'm here simply to give them a free ride? Last night everyone wanted to ride to Sioux Falls with me but no one was willing to help pay for gas. Their excuse: "I don't have any money!" I'm in the same boat, only a bit worse. I can't go to Daddy every time I need money and I don't have anyone paying my bills for me. And then when we got there, they all spent lots of money on food and drinks. How does that work out?? I think I should collect money BEFORE we leave.

If Bush wins, the world will NOT explode!

Hehehe -- so, last night, all my super-liberal coworkers were flipping out because Bush was ahead by a few votes all the time. They were all like, "This is depressing! Bush is going to win!" Sally said that the apocalypse is just around the corner because Bush was ahead. It got to be 12:45 and I was like, "b'bye I'm going home" and so I said, "You all have a nice night." Sally flipped out and mumbled something about apocalypse and I said, "Everyone, relax! The world will NOT explode, no matter who wins." Sally said, "But the apocalyse is coming!" Aw, well. As long as the world doesn't explode, then we're all good.

Too bad that a barrel of oil went over $50 this morning . . .

Anyway, I fail to see why it is so important for Kerry to win. I mean, as time goes by, the nation will shift toward the liberal side. Maybe not this time, but eventually, I can see this great (at this time) nation suffering under liberal oppression. We will have brought it on ourselves. I don't understand why we want to do that to ourselves. Marty Seifert once said, "The most important issue is LIFE -- without it, there are no other rights." If a person who is not dedicated to upholding the sanctity of human life wins the presidency, all of our other rights are overlooked as well. When there is no life, there is no REASON for other rights, and it becomes acceptable to take those rights away. We cannot do that!

Another point of interest . . . On Foxnews.com, there is a "meter" on which it shows how many republican or democratic congresspersons etc. are in office after this election. Since Foxnews.com is not working currently, I can't give actual numbers, but I can say that as of about 8:45 this morning, Republicans held the majority of the seats. This even goes down to governors! How exciting is that! God has been working in this election, and I hope and pray that the most powerful person in the country remains President George W. Bush.
